I find iron-arched roofs in British railway stations remarkable. New Street has transformed incredibly since this was taken in 1900, but there are still stations across the country that employ the grand architectural style, with Brighton being the last one I visited.
This version of New Street was designed by William Livlock. Built in 1854 in a restrained Barryesque Tuscan Doric style, the iron arched roof used 36 single-span, cast-iron arches, each weighing 25 tons! 😲
Do you know of any other stations in England that still have a roof designed like this?

Listen to local musician Jordvn Emanuel's new album
There comes a point in an artist's career when they find their groove and everything just seems to come together. Up until this moment, it's as if they've been finding their voice, but from hereon in, their best work flows abundantly.
Jordvn Emanuel has undoubtedly reached this milestone during the making of his latest project, ‘Calls From All Your Olders’. An incredibly personal story; this album is a heartwarming letter to those who walk before us and shape our world.
The third track, which explains the concept for the album hooked me in and provided context for the rest of the record.
This is sonically exceptional; a very mature offering from one of Brum’s rising talents.
