Book to see Dear Santa
Shows run until Saturday 24th December
Birmingham Hippodrome, Hurst Street, Southside, B5 4TB
With shows running up until Christmas Eve, this feels like the perfect opportunity to get the whole family feeling festive in the lead up to the big day!
In this pantomime, Santa is determined to deliver the most fantastic Christmas present to Sarah, but he doesn’t get it right straight away! With the help of his cheeky Elf, he finally settles on something ‘perfect’, just in time for the 24th.
With the opportunity to meet Santa in his grotto after the show too, this experience is a great introduction to theatre for the little ones!

A young child offers her Christmas list to Brum Kong, pictured here dressed as Santa Claus in 1972.
During its four years in Camp Hill, Kong was dressed up as Father Christmas every December, with locals dropping by for photos and offerings of wish-lists for the duration of the festive season.

What's your favourite memory of Christmas in Birmingham?
Two years ago, the National Literacy Trust teamed up with Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market to gift over 60 free books, in return for a story about people’s favourite Christmas memory. A few entries are stored in the article below and reading it got me reminiscing some of my personal memories growing up in Brum.
My favourite has to be driving home through Hall Green on Christmas Eve aged 7, watching the Christmas lights out of the back window as it started snowing really heavily. We woke up to a full blanket on Christmas Day, it was magical!
