Attend Marley Starskey Butler's exhibition at MAC
Exhibited until Sunday 28th January 2024
Midlands Art Centre, Cannon Hill Park, B12 9QH
Local multidisciplinary artist Marley Starskey Butler’s exhibition, titled Thirty-Six, draws inspiration from their personal experience of social work, exploring themes of family, empathy, trauma and identity.
Explorations of Butler’s own children’s services records and relationships with multiple primary care givers are displayed through text, photography, video and audio collected over the last 14 years.
The exhibition culminates with a free Artist Talk in MAC’s Hexagon Theatre on 18th January 2024. Be sure to mark that date in your calendar, too!

This shot looks like a still from Matt Reeves’ The Batman! I love the moody glow of the sign, hovering silently in the mist; Brum can look so magical at night. 🤩

What’s Next for Birmingham’s Cultural Institutions and Galleries?
Artist and educator Cathy Wade met up with museum and gallery directors Sara Wajid and Cheryl Jones to discuss the future of the city’s cultural life, after Birmingham City Council issued a Section 114 notice, effectively declaring bankruptcy.

As Cheryl states, sometimes economic limitations can solicit creative solutions. What creative act or project could you start today?
