Go to Farwa Moledina's exhibition at IKON
On show Until 13th November 2022
1 Oozells Street, Brindley Place, B1 2HS
Farwa’s exhibition, Women Of Paradise, is a response to the singular religious narratives that dominate museums and galleries. Having been raised by Muslim women, I love that these discussions are happening in the city's foremost modern art gallery.
The artist is also taking part in a free talk with art and design historian Dr Sabrina Rahman on 7th December, where they’ll be discussing the exhibition in depth.

The foundations of the Rotunda getting built on 25th October 1961. It looks a very small space to us in this shot! Fascinating to recognise what it looks like today, compared to these humble beginnings.

Abbie Reilly: Illustrator's Birmingham mural
Abbie is a freelance illustrator, Birmingham City University graduate and friend of Brumbox! Her work is playful, colourful and dreamlike, often with a hint of the surreal.
She recently had her piece New Horizons commissioned by Birmingham City Council for a mural on the old Newtown Baths. The mural depicts Birmingham’s past in the bottom section, its present in the middle, and its future at the top.
It sparked conversation here at Brumbox HQ when we first saw it and we asked ourselves, what themes would you include in a past/present/future mural? And what kind of difference do you think public art makes to our daily lives? Let us know what you think after you’ve taken a closer look below!
