Book to see The Tiny Spark: Film Screening and Discussion
Wednesday 18th October, 6pm
Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum, Millennium Point, Curzon Street, B4 7XG
The Tiny Spark is a film reimagining the 1985 Handsworth Riots, with stories told through the words of Benjamin Zephaniah, Juice Aleem, Chauntelle Madondo, Samiir Saunders and artwork of Pogus Caesar.
Described as visually striking, bold and accessible, this screening will stimulate and encourage conversation on one of the most traumatic events in post war Britain.
It’s free to watch, but booking your spot is essential as demand is phenomenal after a sold out premiere in early September. Be quick!

Watch BBC Radio 1Xtra presents: I am Birmingham
This video tells the stories of local creatives taking part in 1Xtra Live back in November 2014, culminating in a captivating spoken word performance by DECI4LIFE.
I couldn’t help but feel inspired noticing how far the city has come from this moment almost a decade ago. I feel there is something extra special about this generation of creatives, be it in music, dance, clothing or acting. The poem performed here reinforces the unique message that every crop of new talent from Birmingham upholds, and I’m so excited to see what can be achieved in the next ten years.
If you’re after some inspiration this week, I recommend taking 5 minutes out of your day to watch this.
