Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm
The Jointworks, 62-64 Albion Street, B1 3EA
Last year, Birmingham Design (the folks behind BDF) opened up a permanent shop space in the beautifully renovated Jointworks building. Located in the historic Jewellery Quarter, the shop boasts a wide variety of books, magazines and art to browse - if you've got any Christmas gift money burning a whole in your pocket, you'd do well do spend it here!
We're feeling inspired after discovering a host of creative goodies from all over the world.

I love these; they exude a soft warmth to the city that is rarely felt when walking through the concrete-heavy landscape (especially at this time of year!)
The hazy glow of train lights and sunsets remind me of travelling in and out of town as a teenager, usually on my way to a gig or club night in Digbeth!

Meet the five Birmingham artists at the heart of British Surrealism
Lately I've been engrossed in discovering the roots of Birmingham-based Surrealist art. Did you know, despite Surrealism launching officially in Britain with an exhibition in London in 1936, it was five artists from the Second City that were the most subversive and scandalous!
A must read for any art loving Brummie; I loved exploring works from the city that were new to me and learning about how these artists in particular collectively flew the flag for the Surrealist movement in the UK.
